'The Meme Machine' Screens in Europe at Thessaloniki Doc Festival 2020
The Meme Machine, made in collaboration with Rooster Teeth, has been invited as an Official Selection of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in March 2020. The film traces the early history of the first ‘accidentally famous’ personalities on the internet, and charts the rise of meme culture resulting in the place we find ourselves now. Featuring interviews with Linguists, Scientists and behavior psychologists - as well as some of the human memes themselves, “The Meme Machine” reveals how memes have taken over modern culture.

The past 18 months have been busy with multiple documentary projects filming across the world, and now in 2019, two feature documentaries are finished and simultaneously making the festival rounds before wider release. ‘Thirst for Power’, based on the book by Michael Webber, has screenings in Washington D.C. at the DC Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF), an international premiere in Toronto (Water Docs) and at Earth X Film in Dallas, among others. And the new documentary made with Rooster Teeth, ‘Waiting for the Punchline’ is screening at DocFest San Francisco, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival , and Cleveland International Film Festival in the Nesnadny + Schwartz Portrait Documentary Competition. The Rooster Teeth documentary about podcaster Nick Scarpino’s attempt to become a stand up comedian in San Francisco is premiering at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. on Friday, February 22nd, 8:30PM at the historic Wilma Theater. Austin Chronicle did a nice blurb about it. Purchase Tickets.
'COMMON GROUND' - NEW FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY STREAMING NOW
Common Ground, is now streaming on Rooster Teeth FIRST, which is available to view on Apple TV, Xbox, AppleTV, and Roku devices. Featuring the personal journey of Gus Sorola, a founder of gaming entertainment company Rooster Teeth along with interviews with investigative reporters from the Texas Tribune, immigration attorneys, border patrol agents and immigrants themselves, ‘Common Ground’ seeks to find an intelligent way to talk about immigration without succumbing to familiar political narratives. The Austin Chronicle observes that the film ‘takes the politics out of the border.’ For the first seven days of release, the film is streaming free, then goes back to being FIRST subscriber-only.
